Mission
A healthy Community … One child at a time.
"The Harlem Children's Health Project is dedicated to improving the lives of children in Central Harlem. Our mission is to provide children with access to quality comprehensive health services and to empower families to make healthy lifestyle choices. By bringing clinicians, educators, and the community together to help children get-and stay-healthy, the Harlem Children’s Health Project aims to increase their chances of success in school and life, now and into the future." What We Do
The Harlem Children’s Health Project (HCHP), an innovative comprehensive health resource center that is designed to improve the health of children in Central Harlem. It includes a school-based health center that provides medical, dental and mental health services, all under one roof. The clinical staff are employees of New York Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. What makes this health center even more unique is its location on the fifth floor of Harlem Children Zone’s Promise Academy, a New York City charter school for Kindergarten through 12th grade students. The HCHP’s comprehensive, on-site clinical services are available to all Promise Academy students year-round, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. When a student requires specialized medical, dental, or mental health services, the HCHP makes appropriate referrals to New York Presbyterian, Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, Harlem Hospital, and other community providers.
